At FS Engineering we think there are 3 options if your waste water contains FOG (Fat, Oil or Grease) , but please let us know if we’ve missed any:
- Cross your fingers and hope it becomes someone else’s problem (or pay to make it so !)
- Pay for biologically active agents to attempt to destroy the valuable, high-energy components in your waste
- Reduce, Recover, Recycle (the three R’s of waste management)
Options 1 and 2 involve the potentially damaging disposal of waste FOGs with little or no net benefit. It is time to stop thinking of your waste FOGs as a problem and to start thinking of them as a resource:
Bio-fuel producers support:
… the inclusion of fats, oils and greases (FOGs), recovered from effluent flows in the food processing industry [including commercial kitchens like yours], within the UCO [Used Cooking Oil] programme. Furthermore, we consider the widespread destruction of this resource through local bio-remediation, to be thoroughly ill-advised from an environmental view point.
Option 3 is based on an edict from Europe (Directive 2006/12/EC of the European Parliament and the Council) and the Fatstrippa FOG separation and recovery device is the perfect fit. Whether you choose Capital Purchase, or our increasingly popular Lease Rental option (which compares favourably with monthly bio-remediation costs), Fatstrippa technology is available NOW to deliver the only responsible option on FOG.
